Switching from glasses to contacts? It takes a little practice, but these five tips will get you comfortable fast.
1. Always wash your hands
Clean, dry hands prevent irritation and infection. Dry them with a lint-free towel before touching your lenses.
2. Start with your dominant eye
Insert the lens in your dominant eye first — it helps you keep both eyes open and reduces blinking.
3. Follow the wear schedule
Daily lenses are worn once and discarded. Monthly lenses must be cleaned and stored in fresh solution every night.
4. Never sleep in lenses (unless approved)
Sleeping in standard lenses starves your eyes of oxygen. Take them out before bed.
5. Keep a backup pair
Lenses can tear. Always have a spare set and your glasses handy.
Comfort tip: if your eyes feel dry, use lubricating drops made for contact lenses.
